For every physician perceived by the public to be bowing to the tenets of managed care and somehow short-changing its needs, or headlined by the press as party to some nefarious scheme, there still are thousands of doctors dragging out of their beds in the middle of the night and stumbling into their cars to handle emergencies, thousands settling in for long session with their last patients of the day simply because those patients had indicated they needed extra time; thousands whose dinner gets cold, whose children don't see them at birthday parties, and whose spouses find they aren't going to get to see that movie after all. - Eric Anderson, MD Copyright - Doctors Realm |
